Martēn Design is a Costa Rica–based interior design practice dedicated to authorial interiors for private residences and ground-up homes. With creative direction at its foundation, the studio approaches each commission as one complete environment—not a sequence of disconnected choices.
A clear concept organizes spatial planning, interior architecture, materials, custom elements, furniture and art. Compositional restraint is balanced with lived experience, creating rooms where function and atmosphere coexist naturally.
That same vision is protected through execution. By leading collaborators, suppliers, decisions and timelines as one continuous process, the studio brings clarity and coherence from the first plans through final installation.
Our Founder
Majo Martén
Majo founded Martēn Design to explore the expressive potential of authorial interiors—spaces shaped by a clear point of view, yet grounded in the way life actually unfolds within them.
Before interiors became her medium, she worked across advertising, digital strategy and business. That experience sharpened the way she moves between intuition and execution: defining the central idea, questioning what is given and aligning many people and decisions around one coherent vision.
Her training spans communication, business and interior design in Costa Rica, Buenos Aires and Mexico City. Rather than separate disciplines, they now form one way of working—treating every interior as a spatial narrative composed through proportion, material, furniture, art and close observation.
This multidisciplinary background allows the studio to unite creative direction with the strategic and operational discipline required to carry complex residential projects through execution.
